Shipping and Returns

How orders ship, how returns work, and how refunds are paid.

When we ship

Many parts ship straight from our distributors, not from our Oberlin shop. One order can arrive in several boxes, from different warehouses, on different days. You get tracking for each package.

  • Product pages show an estimated ship time when we have one. If none is shown, we ship within 30 days of your order.
  • If we can't ship on time, we tell you before the deadline. You can then agree to the new date or cancel for a full refund.
  • We ship to the 48 contiguous United States.
  • Cancel before it ships. You can cancel a parts order for a full refund any time before it ships. Call or email us as soon as you can. Once an order has shipped, use the return rules below.

Oversize and hazmat items

  • Oversize items such as tires, exhausts, bumpers, windshields and plows may have an oversize shipping charge. It is calculated at checkout.
  • Hazmat items such as batteries, lithium batteries, fuel additives, oils, fluids and aerosols ship by ground only, under carrier and U.S. DOT rules. They can't ship by air. They can't go to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, or APO/FPO/DPO addresses.
  • Oversize and hazmat items can't ship to PO boxes.

Damaged, missing or wrong items

Please check your order when it arrives. Report damage, missing items or wrong parts within 5 days of delivery. Email photos of the part and the box to admin@route20powersports.com, or call 440-774-1101. Keep all packaging until the claim is settled. Please don't send anything back until we give you instructions.

Returns

  • You can return unused, uninstalled items in their original, undamaged packaging within 30 days of delivery.
  • Contact us first to get a Return Authorization (RA). We can't accept returns sent without one.
  • A 15% restocking fee applies to returns of items that aren't defective.
  • You pay return postage, except when we made the mistake (we sent the wrong item, or it arrived damaged or defective). Then we pay it, and we refund your original shipping too.
  • Original shipping costs are not refunded on other returns.
  • Wrong part for your vehicle? Fit information comes from the makers and our distributors. Please check fit before you install anything. If the fit we listed was wrong, we waive the restocking fee.

What can't be returned

  • Special-order parts. This includes OEM parts and items our distributors don't normally stock.
  • Electrical parts. This includes stators, CDIs, ECUs, regulators, sensors, wiring and lighting modules.
  • Parts that are installed, used, modified or painted.
  • Hazmat items and opened fluids.

Defective items are still covered by the warranty below.

Electric bikes

Electric bikes are ordered through us by inquiry. You can cancel your deposit or payment for a full refund until the bike ships to us from the supplier. Once it has shipped to Route 20, the deposit or payment is not refundable, because we must then stock the bike or send it back at our own cost. See the Refund Policy for the full terms.

Refunds

Once we approve your return, or if you cancel before an order ships, or if we cancel an order we can't ship:

  • Credit or debit card: we refund within one billing cycle.
  • Other payment methods: we refund within 7 working days.

Warranty and core charges

  • Parts warranty. New parts carry the maker's warranty only. Coverage and length vary by brand. We help you file a claim. Warranties cover manufacturing defects. They don't cover wear, misuse, racing, bad installation, crash damage or changes to the part. The maker or distributor may need to inspect the part. They decide whether to repair, replace or refund it. Labor to remove or reinstall a part isn't covered unless we installed it.
  • Our service work. Labor done by Route 20 is guaranteed for 90 days. Parts we install carry the maker's warranty.
  • Core charges. Some parts, like lead-acid batteries, starters and rebuildable parts, include a refundable core charge. The amount is shown at checkout. To get it back, return the old part within 30 days. It should be drained, undamaged and the same type as the part you bought. We accept used lead-acid batteries for recycling. Cores that come back damaged, incomplete or late may not be refunded.
  • Other warranties. Apart from the maker's warranty and our labor guarantee, we make no other express warranties. Any implied warranties last only as long as the law requires.

Your rights under Ohio law

We follow Ohio and federal consumer law. These are the parts that matter most for shipping, returns and refunds.

  • Fair dealing. The Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act says a seller may not use unfair or deceptive practices before, during or after a sale (Ohio Revised Code 1345.02). It also bans unconscionable practices (R.C. 1345.03).
  • Late orders. Under Ohio Administrative Code 109:4-3-09, a seller that takes your money for an order placed online or by phone cannot let eight weeks pass unless it ships, gives a full refund, tells you how long the delay will be and offers a refund within two weeks if you ask, or sends a similar item of equal or greater value that you agree to. Our own rule is tighter. See "When we ship" above.
  • Federal shipping rule. The FTC Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule requires a seller to ship within the time it states, or within 30 days if it states none. If it can't, it must offer you a delay or a prompt refund (16 CFR 435.2). Prompt refund timing is set in 16 CFR 435.1.
  • Real offers. Under Ohio Administrative Code 109:4-3-03, an offer to sell must be a real effort to sell the item.
  • Warranties. Ohio law can give you implied warranties on goods, such as merchantability (R.C. 1302.27) and fitness for a particular purpose (R.C. 1302.28). A seller's description or promise about a product can also create a warranty (R.C. 1302.26). If you find a problem, tell the seller within a reasonable time (R.C. 1302.65).
  • Sales tax. Ohio charges sales tax on retail sales made in the state (R.C. 5739.02). We collect sales tax where the law requires it.

Ohio does not set a required return period for in-stock items. Our 30-day return window and 15% restocking fee are store policy.

This is Route 20 Powersports store policy. It is not legal advice. Nothing here takes away rights you have under Ohio or federal law.
